Patches and discussion for Ensoniq VFX family

Hi there,
I am new to this group and it looks very useful.  I have both an EPS 
and VFX (original versions not SD or 16+) - these both date back to 
1989-91 and I have never felt the need to buy any newer keyboard 
really.  

The VFX is on O.S 2.1 but I find it fairly limited in midi control of 
modern software apps such as Reason 4.  I was thinking of purchasing 
the 2.3 EPROM chip from Route 66
but as I live in the UK I guess there will be shipping costs on top.

Can anyone give me detail on:
    1) Basic MIDI improvements between 2.1 and the 2.3 EPROM
    2)and how easy is it to change the chip with the Route 66 kit  (I 
wouldn't want to do any soldering for example?
I will email them about shipping costs to the UK - but if it is an easy 
job and I do get more MIDI spec improvements then I guess is worthwhile 
as the FAQ on this site suggests.
