Mint Condition VFX-SD

Mint Condition VFX-SD

2001-11-04 by Dennis

Hi folks,

I am the original owner of a VFX-SD. It's a great instrument, in mint
condition, but I don't play it anymore and I'd like to sell it. It's
had the infamous ribbon connector problem fixed, and I have all of
the manuals, as well as a stand and bench.

How much can I reasonably expect to get for it?

Thanks!

Dennis

Anywhere from $300 to $800, I'd say. Perhaps even more with the manuals and
stand.

I paid $599 or my SD1 a little over a year ago, it wasn't anywhere near
'mint' condition (though it worked fine until last week :). The plastic
covering below the wheels was a little melted with a burn hole, all but 1
screw was missing from the flip panel portion of the front panel. It did
have almost all of the original disks though (except 2)

I've seen VFX-SD's go for $399 at places like starving musician and trading
musician, I've also seen them advertised for $700, presumably the variable is
the quality of condition.

Its odd, but despite all the complaints you see about the ribbon connector
problem, almost all of the VFX/VFX-SD/SD1s you see out there have been gigged
until they're battered and beat-up, so a Mint condition one is somewhat
'unusual' :)

I just picked up a version 2 VFXsd on eBay for $335. From the photos, it
appears to be pretty close to mint - even still has the "Mega Piano" sticker
on it. It should arrive on Tuesday.

I did notice that auction, you were very lucky :)

>From the pics, I'd be willing to bet it was a display model that for some
reason never got sold.

when it arrives, You might want to have a local tech check the battery and
possibly the ribbon connector, since the chances are its never been opened
(and hence fixed).

Hmm... That's a thought. I did all of the fixes myself on my first one, so
it is the first thing I plan to do again.

Thanks all for the feedback - I appreciate it! This one is unusual in
that it's never been on a gig, matter of fact, other than two moves,
it's only been out of the house once in its life to have the repairs
done.

I'm going to go ahead and list it on eBay and see what happens.

Sounds like a great deal! I'd be curious to know what kind of
condition it's in.

I'll let you all know on Tuesday (UPS claims that's when it will be here)
after I've had a chance to unbox it and plug it in.
