when i set up my sequencer tracks for midi i only see the midi channel number

in this method i need to remember which midi channel fires which midi module or effect

is it possible to give a track a name like roland, korg, etc?

You could make the tracks set to "Both" and misuse the number of
sounds You have MIDI stuff connected to as tracknames. Make the sounds
silent (by making no oscillator active, and rename those sounds to
Your liking, and then select them at the particular track.

An easier solution would be to put a sticker on each connected
equipment with it's set MIDI channel, but You decide :)
