Hello! New owner of a VXDsd

Hello! New owner of a VXDsd

2009-10-15 by Eric

Got a VXDsd fairly cheap. Sounds pretty darn good. It does need the keyboard fix, I'll get around that soon enough.

At the moment, I'm trying to build a diskette with the sequencer on it, but I'm not having to much luck. I run primarily on an old g4 mac so there is no hope there.

I have an old laptop that I'm going to install freedos on to see if I can get it going that way. That will wipe out the Windows 2000 installation on it, but I can always reinstall, I guess.

I also have a Yamaha DX7 mk1, if I can get the sequencer going I will have a cool vintage midi setup for sure.

Regards, Eric H

Check the file section and the archive. Someone has made a free dos
floppy for that
purpose which you can use without wiping out your windows system.

my vfx-sd came with keyboard problems too. Top-most 16 dead, one lower key dead. opened it up and found the jumper had alreasy been instaled.
Could have been mouse piss, but I found three tiny defects in the copper traces. could have been corrosion, or (my guess) defects in the circut board that finaly went open. Jumpered these points and ##WIN## !!!
good luck on yours.

I did find that, and finally managed to get a working diskette. It's actually not in the file section though, it's on another site.

http://ensoniq.jrwhitesel.com/software.html

The VFX is happily playing the demo as we speak. I'm glad I didn't have to install the full version of freedos, as that would have wiped the only windows machine I have. It has all my sysex utilities and patches for my DX7 as well.

Thank you!

Eric

You're welcome! Unfortunately, as time moves on it's getting harder
and harder to find a computer with a floppy disk that will work for
this. :-(

I was very lucky I had a few low density diskettes on hand.

It's a shame that so many things become obsolete.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
