It will still play on some of the keys, but it sounds out of tune.
Almost like its playing more than one note. It sound like a mimor
cord. It is something loose or cracked, not programing. The last
time I had to have it fixed no one could with out the scamatic (my
spelling sucks). I called ensoniq they would not release one . I
finally got a hold of one of the big bosses & he ok'ed to ship it to
them to fix. I know it can be fixed but i don't know by who or how
long. thanks to everyone for help. vandalism

Hmmm... sounds like it's having problems with decoding the keyboard -
getting faulty information from the key matrix. It may be as simple as a
problem reading the keyboard that is not bad enough to cause a "Keyboard
Calibration Error" on power up. Try this to see if it effects a change in
behavior: Place the instrument on a flat surface, like a sturdy table.
With the power off, lay your left arm across the left end of the keyboard to
clamp it in place. Then, lift the right rear of the instrument about 1/2"
with your right hand. You should hear a rather alarming crackly sound
coming from the keyboard. Power up the keyboard, and see if there is a
change in its behavior. Then, power off, switch arms and hands, and lift
the left back corner and try it again. If this makes any changes, then
you're either having a problem with the connection 1) between the keyboard
halves that is intermittent, or (2) there's a cracked circuit track in or
around the keyboard matrix.

For repair, you may want to try Bill's Music House in Catonsville, MD. The
number is either 410-747-1900 or 410-744-1900 (I can't remember which
exchange). Don't worry if you dial the wrong one first. The folks there
are used to getting calls for Bill's by mistake. Anyway, the tech who is
there has been there forever, and has done a ton of VFX repairs over the
years. However, I'd talk to Don Haskins (keyboard sales manager and
all-around good guy) first, and tell him that I told you to call. He'll
know if they can fix it there, or if not, where to go to get it fixed. He
is, like us, an Ensoniq nut.

I also know another guy who used to be in the repair business who can fix
anything under the sun. He's also here in MD, and might be willing to do me
a favor... if it gets down to that.
