Not staying in tune

Not staying in tune

2017-11-22 by Cable

Hello,

Has anyone experienced their VFX coming out of tune? Rebooting resets it but it doesn't hold. Jim

How far out of tune? Does moving the pitch bend wheel affect it (as
in, maybe the pitch wheel is dirty or is being read incorrectly by the
electronics)? Is the data slider at one end of travel or the other,
or somewhere in the middle when this happens? Are all programs off by
the same amount?

I'm a bit out of my wheelhouse here, but...

The way digital instruments such as this work, it's not likely that
the actual pitch producing circuits are off (pretty much quartz
crystal timed digital data feeding a DAC, electrical problems there
would usually yield much harsher digital noise problems, or erratic
behavior in general, rather than a simple change in pitch).

It's more likely that one of the controls the internal computer is
reading and using to make decisions on what pitch to play at is not
working right.

The data slider getting dirty and jumping between two values, perhaps
being set up to control the "timbre" setting when a controlled
paramiter is not displayed, is a possibility, for example.
