Best Patches List

Best Patches List

2003-06-18 by Nathan I Smutz

What patches would you nominate for a Best of VFX list?
"ARP 2600" is strong and gets a bit of mention.
The Roegster mentioned the above, along with "Huge Orchestra"
I think "BEEE-THREEE" is the organ patch that I found to be powerful.
Also, Rich's bank had a thunder storm patch (I'll have to find the name,
I think it's "THUNDER-SKY") that I think is great.

So far, we have:

ARP 2600
Huge Orchestra
BEEE-THREE
(THUNDER-SKY)

Make a joyful noise,
Nathan

I'd also like to nominate "Piano-Strings" since it
gives a beautiful, lust string section to my piano
work on my VFX

HOLD-ON is one of my favorites, it comes with one of the sound banks
included with the Atari ST 'VFX Manager' program. Its a nice mix of
fast attack brass + swelled strings, very vangelis-ey in ways.

However, i had to modify it for my own use, the string part is a little
too metallic sounding and high pitched (its 2 octaves over the brass,
iirc) and so limited that voice to the bottom couple of octaves

One of those I like best is the RHODESMODZ, which is a very lovely piano
sound. As a contrast with really beating bass sounds the STUDIOPIANO isn't
bad as well.

Please add the factory "Alto sax" patch and I have an "Mini" patch I have been meaning to post that I think you will find quite interesting.

Here's a few nominations:

[ Should we note the use? I play in a contemporary church band, so
that may skew my sound usage a bit. ]

WOODFLUTE -- very expressive; I use it nearly every time I want a
              flute like sound.

DOUBLE REED -- also nice, and I've sometimes split the keyboard
between these two, and play harmony between 'em.
                    Very cool.

NIGHT-CLUB -- I don't use this a *lot*, trying not to wear it out.
It's sort of my signature sound on one of our often
played songs, and I like it.

Hello.
  First you go here:
http://www.thedx7.co.uk/index.html
and download the Sound Lib librarian. Be sure to get
the name and password:

NAME: FREE
CODE: SDDSJICGEJHBXKOXJ

After installing them go here:

http://neopatch.hypermart.net/

and hit "patches" on the left. Voila, a total of 1484
different voices to download, open, audition, and use.
There are help files in the librarian, and with a midi
cable connected to your soundcard joystick port, your
in business. Best wishes......................Roegster
