Should some time free up, I'm going to write some pages on operating
the VFXsd on my own hook. They'll GPL'ed, so you'll be free to copy and
redistribute them.

I find the manual confusing in spots, and it frankly doesn't handle a
number of common problems (e.g., "Why are there "hitches" at the end of
sequence tracks sometimes?").

yeah that's a good one - why does this happen sometime?

Re: [Ensoniq-VFX-SD] Hitches in sequences

I've never had this happen in a single sequence, but when more than one
sequence is played in succession, sometimes this happens because of the
effects patch selected for each sequence.

For example, if 'Sequence01' has effect 27, and then 'Sequence 02' has
effect 46, the VFX needs a split second of time to change the effect
from one to another. This causes the 'hitch'. As I remember, it IS
mentioned in the manual, although I'll have to agree that on a whoe the
manual is not really user-friendly.

To escape having this problem, try using a single effect for all
sequences that are to be chaind together, or, if you are linking them
in the SONG mode, choose the effect for the entire song so that you
don't have this problem.

Hope this helps.

Michael

Re: Hitches in sequences

Hi all,

I seem to remember that there's a setting for turning off the momentary
muting that happens during effects changes.
There was a reason for that feature in the first place though. So, you
have a choice between a momentary silence or hearing whatever weirdness
happens to the sound when the effects unit changes algorithms. If the
effects are similar, there may not be anything unusual.

Make a joyful noise,
Nathan
