Re: [Homebrew_PCBs] Setup for direct to PCB printing using Epson&MISPro Ink

2006-06-13 by Tony Harris

I'll be anxious to hear about this. I'm also curious about the ability to do double sided boards?

I already have an MIS system, but I'd probably get a cheap printer so I don't hose my current one ;)

OK, now that Stefan has reproduced Volkan's results with "direct to
copper" printing...I couldn't resist jumping in with both feet.

Especially since I found an Epson C86 for sale this weekend for $4
(at the Ham Radio Swapmeet).

In fact the weekend went like this:

1. Epson C86 Printer, capable of printing with DuraBright Inks at
over 5K DPI resolution - $4.

2. Continuous Ink System (off eBay) with chips to fool the printer -
$12

3. 4 bottle set of MISPro ink - $48

4. Ability to apply etch resist direct to copper - priceless!

Tbe CIS and Ink should arrive today or tomorrow. I can't wait to try
them.

P.S. The C86 appears to be identical to the C84. Stefan, how did
you modify your C84 to achieve a straight-through print path? Did
you just rip away all the plastic?

P.P.S. Hey....at worst at least I finally have a new printer. I
haven't bought a new printer in over a dozen years. Still have my
HP-5L Laser Printer. Only had to repair it once with the mail order
replacement take-up roller kit. So what if it is only 5 pages a
minute? BTW, the C86 says it is 20 pages a minute. Amazing.
