DFN10 is well within the capabilities of toner transfer. I have some 0.5mm pitch SMT connectors I've done adapter boards for, they work just fine, so there's no "price to pay for DIY". I've done down to 01005 SMT caps and VQFP (0.4mm pitch) ICs with DIY TT. If Eagle can't print you a usable postscript output, perhaps you need to export gerbers from Eagle, and use a gerber printing program to print? I know PCB's postscript output is designed for TT (it even has calibrations for non-unity X/Y printer scaling :), but that doesn't mean Eagle's is. Or maybe you need to run a different CAM script?
