I like re-flow solder much better. I haven't tried my process with the lead-free solder yet, but I suspended the board in peanut oil and heated it. Then I would lift it out and melt some solder on it. I'd put it back to attempt to re-flow the solder. I'd take it out and use a damp rag and smear it over the board.
