Yes, it should work. You will need to spend some time setting it up but once it is square in all axes it should be fine. Allthread rod is surprisingly accurate. Don't use the suggested motor driver design. While it will work it will be very slow. Something like a Xylotex <www.xylotex.com> driver will give much better performance.
