Stefan I haven't made up my mind yet on using the slides, but for the sole purpose of DRILLING they are - and that's something I'm VERY sure about - definately up to the task. Well, it could end up so cheap that I may try it out just for the fun of it! I mean the steppers and a controller are definately useable for more than one machine and I have a relatively small / simple machine in mind so I don't think I would loose a lot in the negative case. The bearing / tube aproach is surely the right one if there are higher forces (milling). Anyways, whatever I will end up doing I surely will post a link. I also enjoy this ongoing discussion here of course.
