The rivets look nice in the picture but they are the wrong type if you want a long-term reliable product. See an old post below: Bertho The problem with the eyelets was that they were tubular rivets. They solder on the bottom and filled with solder. Unfortunately often the solder did not flow over the top edge to reliably join the top trace. That is why they were changed to rivets that had a slit in them and not tightly crimped on the top . That way the solder wicked up and spread onto the top trace. But I think trying to simulate plated through holes on home made PCB is going way too far. I have been using wirewrap wire to fake the vias. I know you cannot put them under components. On real PCBs the plated though holds are made on each layer before etching. Then the boards are sandwiched together. This is just too much to try on homemade PCBs. The sensitizing solution can be purchased and you can make real plated through holes if you really need them. But that's too much trouble for me. I only use the TT process to make small quantities of boards for ham radio projects. I purchased a few (from a Taobao seller) which were advertised as 0.8mm, but they turn out to be closer to 0.9mm outer diameter and are not going to fit (I tried, I did get one to jam in, just, but it wasn't easy!), I'd really rather stick with 0.8mm holes. Search hard as I can, high, and low, ebay, taobao, alibaba.... I just can not find anything smaller than 0.8mm, apart from... this old thread: http://tech.dir.groups.yahoo.com/group/Homebrew_PCBs/message/24987 where indeed megauk sells rivets suitable for that drill size. Unfortunately, megauk wants to charge me 30 pounds to post them to me, 30 pounds shipping, for a bag of rivets which probably weigh less than 10 grams So, does anybody know of any other sources for rivets which will fit in a 0.8mm hole?
