Both of these are from the same family as Petrol, refined from crude Oil and Natural Gas.These substances can dissolve/effect some types of Plastics. IPA or Isoprople Alcohol is safer to use and to my limited ken, does not attack any plastics.IPA is availble at most electronic outlets including Maplin.Hope this helps, Chester
