Re: DXF file of PCB

Steve,
After you open the file. Turn on your GRID. Set it for
.025 X .025. Notice how the connector does not line up. The
ICs have a spacing of .1 while the connector is .11. Once
you have a connector drawn you can cut and paste it to other
drawings. I start my drawing off by putting in the pads. Then I draw
in the +5 and GND paths. DeGlitch caps and power caps are next. Then
I put in jumpers between pins. Then interconnecting traces. I use hop
over jumpers rather than a double sided board. Up until now I have
never needed a double sided board. I tried all the automated board
software packages. I find they are quick and easy. I however like
doing boards the hard way. In the end the product is simpler. My
latest thing is tracing. I draw my board with lots of short lines.
Then I trace it moving in a counter-clockwise motion. The resulting
trace makes a very fast DXF like the Tit4Tat. Eagle is fine for small
boards. On large boards It produces lots of extra motion. This extra
motion is called "The Traveling Salesman Syndrome" After you trace
the drawing, delete the other layers. Make sure you name the trace
with a different name.

                                    John
