I'm looking for really basic information - for example, are the red circuit lines the component side or the solder side? I can't find the answer to that anywhere in the manual, tutorial, or help files. I think I can figure out how to establish the design rules, but if someone could save me a few hours digging around in the software it would be appreciated.

Red is top, click the layers button and look at the color guide. Download
the seperate 4.xx PDF tutorial from the site and go through it. Expect about a
weeks worth of spare time to do that, well worth it. The old tutorials sucked
but from 4.xx it's been much better.

The program is very good once you have learned your way around. Heck there
are many other viewing programs I wish would use the mouse for zoom after using
Eagle..
