Hi Larry I can not seem to find any floor polish that you speak about. In this country, the only floor polishes that I can find are wax based and thus rather thick. Have you tried any permanent markers? I see on the PCB home page, they use a Staedtler 318 LUMOCOLOR pen. How does this cope with the Ferro chloride? Any help is always appreciated. Thanks Stuart

I tested a few markers on a bare spot on a board I was etching in Ferric Chloride. My ferric chloride was weak so it took quite a while to etch, something like 45 minutes. Stock HP plotter marker: dissolved within 30 seconds Laundry Marker/Commercial Resist Pen: Started dissolving before etch was done, copper partly etched away Staedler Lumocolor 313 red marker: Flawless. Firecracker,
I tried a disposable technical pen on the copper. The
ink never dried. Do you have the name of the company that makes
the OHP marker. Due to the EPA, ink is not like it used to be. I
went to my local Staples. Their pen section looks like a ghost
town. Lots of companies are missing.

I know a lot of floor polishes have urethane not the same as the wood stuff. Derek

Before it dries, Future floor polish is water soluble. Don't know if that helps. Steve PS got some HP 320 deskjet and 340 deskwriter laptop printers! Board straight paper path. Acrylic. That's the magic word. If it dries waterproof but strips off with Ammonia, that's the stuff you want. Reading from my bottle: Future Premium Floor Finish "Long Lasting Shine Tough Acrylic Protection" SC Johnson A Family Company On the back of the label, catch phrases like: "Is a tough acrylic floor finish that contains no wax" "For No-Wax and regular floors". Then there's the "helpful hints section" "First time users should thourghly clean their floor with a solution of 1 cup ammonia and 1/4 Armstrong floor cleaner in 1/2 gallons of cool water". The key word there was Ammonia. Track it down, find it, borrow it from your wife or mother. I think you'll like it. Works great in a fine tip technical pen for touchups for other resist methods too. Easier to use than a sharpie. The only drawback is it's clear. Hello PCBers Bravo - Encore - it worked. I followed the instructions at this link http://www.qsl.net/ve2emm/pcb/pcbe.html Thanks alienrelics. It works beautifully. The Staedtler 318 red pen is tops. After 25 minutes in the ferric chloride, there is absolutely no breakdown in the ink. This leaves beautifull, accurate tracks. Finally a cheap accurate way to print pcb`s. I used autocad 2000i to draw the artwork and the Roland DXY 990 plotter to plot. Superb results. Thanks Stuart

Hi Daryl Not sure in the USA, but make sure you buy a FINE 318 red. The medium lays too thick tracks. Here in South Africa they sell for R20,00 which is about $2
