PCBs

2005-12-20 by Alan King

Boards came in today, 13 days from sending in the gerbers to in my
hands. Fairly impressed with TNT, never heard of them before but
apparently a fairly big company along the lines of FedEx etc. China to
my hands in 4 days as below..

They're quite nice too, a little lower tolerances etc than the APC
boards I've had, but quite good and definitely a bargain. Sent the
manufacturing overage along with it, 29 was the number and got 32,
although you couldn't count on that 100% or with large boards. Quite a
deal at ~$2.60 per board after the Paypal 10% off coupon, relatively
complex little board so way worth not making them for $3 each.. I think
it's time for some motor controllers..

Alan

What kind of motor controller are you making?

There's TNT, and just in case you happened to want the PCB too, here is
one of their Ebay auctions.. Apparently TNT is rather large in Asia
area like FedEx.. Kind of struck me as about an Airborne size operation
in the US end, of course likely to change or really be larger, just
showed up in similar van etc..

Ah LOL just looked, and while bright orange TNT bag, of course it also
has an Airborne label now that I look, so just an in US partnership for
global delivery. Still, worked quite well in getting it here..

No problem, figured it might be just the quoting..

A few pics to see what the $90 can get. 2.6" square, so 32 makes for
~216 sq inches total, a bit more than the 200 from the ad, of course
can't count on the extras.. Pic 3 shows one small error, the center
trace comes out at 90, should have come out at 45. Not a problem, but
unnecessarily close to the hole beside.. Slight misalignment in the
hole rows on the right in that pic is intentional, to move off a bit for
clearance. Been dealing with a water leak, so haven't even built one up
yet, but it's a shrink of a known good larger version, so should be no
real problems. Could have made some clearances a little larger, but not
much else, and had several 'last 2 days' additions, so not too bad.
Making notes for the next round of boards..

Tight two layer, would've been a royal pita to try to make 32 of these
by TT or similar at once. May get two boards next order, doubling up on
the shipping would make it an even better bargain.

Alan

TNT is a big company. It's Australian (or was) , and quite big in the UK.
