Neat Iron

Neat Iron

2006-01-05 by mycroft2152

For those of yo who are looking for a decent iron for Toner Transfer.
I posted a photo in the the Mycroft2152 folder in the photo section.
My daughter bought one of these SKI WAX Irons for her boyfriend as a
christmas present. The price was around $30 US.

I was impressed, Very well made, with a thermostat and a flat wide
plate and best of all - no holes.

I was very tempted :).

Thanks!

That does look nice. Simple too.

I've got flat aluminum plate on mine, but I've never liked the section
which attaches the original base to the iron body. It has a little bit
of play in it (too "plastic'y"), and the pressure I've used with some
of the PCB's hasn't helped it any.

If I think about replacing it, I may grab that.

You know what that dark joint material is by chance, and how nice is
the temp control?

I was allowed to takw it out of the box by my daughter :)

The black gasket material looked like the standard phenolic / thermoset resin.

Didn't get to plug it in and try out the thermostat, but seemd to have a decent range.
