Motorized Stage and Stuff

Motorized Stage and Stuff

2006-01-25 by scratch_6057

Starting to consider designing / building my own "Dremel"
Based CNC system and after dissecting a couple of Inkjet
printers and a flatbed scanner I just picked up at the
"GoodWill" store for $ 2.00 (yes two dollars) each,
I was looking for larger stepper motors when I came across
this Motorized Stage at Herbach and Rademan.
If I were to buy one I would consider changng it to a
stepper motor drive.

I thought some of you may be interested in taking a look at it.

If the link dosen't work, it's the first item under
" Miscellaneous Items " on the left hand menu at
       http://www.herbach.com/

BTW:
If you can get inkjet printerscheap or salvage, they have
nice slide rails with bushings and the scanner I got has
two parallel mounted slide rails (but only one side, the
side closest to the motor, has a bushing) and the stepper
is geared to a cable and drum pull – pull transport drive
with an idler pulley at the other end.
Simple, elegant design very interesting.

Short URL's (was: Motorized Stage and Stuff)

Scratch,

Sorry for the temporary subject change.:)

There's a couple sites, if you get those extra long links, you can go
there and paste them into a box and they'll code it into a nice little
short one.

I use this: www.tinyurl.com

For instance, your's comes out to-> http://tinyurl.com/93cmd

Take Care,
                     George

PS- I learned long ago to cut and paste the ends of those long ones
when they get chopped off, but there's no telling what can happen to
them in transit. ;)

Although less convenient at times, I believe using the
actual link address is better than resorting to a
service such as "tinyurl." If "tinyurl" ceases to
exist, then all of the "tinyurl"'ed links in the
Homebrew_PCB message archive become worthless.

Just my 0.02,

Rick

When you use full-length links, enclose them in '<' and '>' and usually
they will not be broken up, so they stay clickable:
