Another VERY CHEAP paper that works pretty good....

Another VERY CHEAP paper that works pretty good....

2006-05-02 by lcdpublishing

Well,
Having run out of the paper I was using (don't know what it was but it
transferred consistantly), I had to try something else today. I found
the AD papers from Sunday's newspaper, cut up a couple of sheets to
standard paper size and gave it a try.

Excellant toner transfer.

There might be a problem in that some sort of "Goo" also is on the
pcb. It is sort of like the residue left over after you peel a
sticker off something. It isn't water soluable. Won't know for a
while if it matters, the board is etching right now.

Can't beat the price if it works good!

People have reported good results before with paper from magazines and
catalogs.

Personally i prefer to have sheets clear of any printing, and i don't mind
the price if i can get the same paper each time.

PS: Chris, didn't get the printer or ink today. Asked seller of the
printer why it isn't here and for the tracking number. Expect the ink is
held up at customs. But i got the syringes so at least i'll have those at
hand then.

It is possible to buy that thin glossy paper used for printing magazines, it
should be quite cheap. I'd ask a local printer about it.

Darn it! I sure wish that ink would get there for you. I probably
wrote "Ink" on the darn customs lable and that probably held it up on
this end too if they are worried about "air mailing" chemicals.

When I purchased my plotter (big 24" wide unit), I couldn't take it
home with me. Apparently something in the documentation stated that
it required special handling. It turns out it was referring to the
ink which is corrosive to 1018 steel. Well, water is corrisive to
1018 steel, as it moisture in the air! Dumb asses!

Well, hopefully it didn't get rerouted on this end. If they ended up
sending it via "parcel post" it could take a month! GRRRRRRRRRR.
