PCB how to ? for India

PCB how to ? for India

2007-01-21 by Kashyap Deepak

Dear Friends,
I am trying to setup a small prototyping facility for testing my designs.
Usually my designs are single sided, until now I used to make it using
OHP marker pens and FeCl as etchants as these things are easily
available in India.

Since this technic requires an artistic hand and has zero
repeatability ( for at least 2-3 boards) I want to use photo etch method.

I tried transferring the artwork by screen printing (silk screen),it
is a popular method for visiting cards here, on copper clad, but
there were lot of pinholes.

I tries tone transfer but my printers are all 600dpi laser again I get
pinholes.

Now since I can get the films done easily I want to understand how to
do photo etch without a pre-sesitized board which is not available here.

Can anyone help me with the name of the photoresist that I can find
here in India?

Any help is appreciated.
Awaiting for your replies

Thanking you
Deepak

Hi Kashyap

I just checked and it seems that you have a local RS-components in india. www.rsindia.com.
They should be able to supply you with anything you need in that perspective.

Kindest Regards.

Stig.

Just a thought.

It seems you have access to making a film. If you have an access to a
printing press company, they have what is called a manual "wipe-on"
sensitizer for sensitizing offset aluminum plate. I am not sure whether this
will work with a copper pcb.

Also, there is another process in metal etching wherein you can photo-etch
zinc or copper plate for hot-foil stamping or dry-embossing. If I am not
mistaken, the manual photo-sensitizer is something like a polyvinyl chloride
(the much, much older process uses something like the egg albumen).

These info were something from my 20 years ago memory and it is already a
bit hazy. Try to google information for metal etching and you may find the
correct info.
