Transparency question

Transparency question

2007-12-28 by Dave

Ok, so I bought the LaserJet 1022 for making my iron on transfers and
already have some glossy photo paper. I went to buy some HP
transparencies from the local supply stores and they didn't even jave
any HP transparencies. Just Office Depot or 3M brand. I can get the HP
ones online easy enough. Should I use the HP ones as they are best or go
with the others?
Thanks,
Dave

for TT use magazine paper. no need to mess with anything
else!
try one, apply and check results. if you don't like the
results, clean the board and try another...
you will find out what is best for YOU...
let me suggest you put a sheet or two of paper towel
between the iron and the paper with the image, works great
for ME.

I use HP inkjet and get the best results using the HP Transparency, The
other brands will work OK as long as they are listed for use with HP
printers.

I don't use a laser enough to say how they work with a HP laser printer.

Get the smaller package they have and try them.

to the subject ; transparent paper.

Maybe it has been said. but here it is from me.
I started to use somthing that here in Denmark is called "KALKERPAPIR "
you could google it and get an idea of what I mean.. saw that HP sell
it in rolls ..I used it to put on the Bishoff tracks and pads and had
always worked perfect.
As kalkerpapir is disapering from bookshops, I tried the Transparant
film for overhead.. and was very disapointed.. even there was a lot of
ink, it did not cover good .
Now had just used my last piece of the old stuff.. and with my HP 710
printed a drawing out. I used normal setting for the printer..and I got
a perfect PCB..
If you haven't tried the "kalkerpapir " maybe its worth to try it..

I already bought Staples Photo paper for the transfers. I was talking
about using transparencies for the component side. But while we are on
the subject, do you mean just taking a page from a magazine and printing
on it as is, or "new" magazine paper?
Thanks,
Dave

I have a few older HP inkjets and a few Canon inkjets here. I guess for
what I wanted to use the transparency for that may be the better option.
I was looking for component side mask.

Alex,
Thanks for the info. I guess I wasn't clear enough for the use of the
transparencies. I just wanted them for the component side mask. I have
some glossy photo paper that I use for PCB's. A quick search though of
"kalkerpapir" looks like it may be hard to find in US.
Thanks,
Dave

the printed ink has no influence on TT.
it's just the matter of getting the right paper that
'releases' its surface when whetted...
