Prior to advancing to this site you should check out http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/electronic_prototypes/ It may help you get to the point to advance to the http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Homebrew_PCBs/ site.

I would not bother to sign up for this group. There is not very much information and most of the messages are spam. Appears to be a "come on" to sign up for his electronics program. Care to respond Brain?

So... people should leave this group and join yours? I don't see why that is necessary. This group is for all experience levels. I see this as splitting the userbase, not a good thing. The reason I created Homebrew_PCBs in the first place was to bring together all the experience and knowledge I saw fragmented amongst dozens, if not hundreds, of general electronic groups, lists, and forums. Looks like all the spammers I've blocked or banned from here are over there, posting away. Who is Harvey Twyman? No one ever asked anybody to leave this group. I have read wonderful information on making pcb's here and would not like to leave so I would not ask anyone else to leave. Nobody HAS to join up for the program if they dont want to. It is just another option to learn electronics. All the posts I see here is for pcb design and not for designing electronics. The web/yahoo groups IS fragmented groups, lists, forums and such. Nothing you can do except make your own site to add to the list. Spam on my site is being taken care of. I am new to electronic_prototypes and wanted to make a site for designing electronics. Steve, I believe you also did, on Oct 6, 2003 (as stated below, if this was the only site), what I have just done is no different. You did say "and encourage general electronic questions go to other more appropriate lists." Quoted from electronic_prototypes yahoo group site message #79... "Hi, hope I'm not stepping over a line... I'm list owner of a group called Homebrew_PCBs. The list is specifically about that, I don't allow job notices, and encourage general electronic questions go to other more appropriate lists. For some, Homebrew PCBs means everything from writing your own software and building your own hardware to do every step from CAD/CAM to through hole plating. Yes, we have several who do their own through-hole designs, and one who says he's done multilayer boards. To others it means passing it off to a commercial maker after designing it on their computer. That range is on topic for the list. Anyway, you are invited to join if you'd like. Spammers get banned instantly, other than that I'm a moderate moderator. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Homebrew_PCBs And don't forget to check the Links, Files, and Photos sections there. It's a busy list. Thanks, Steve" V/R, Brian --- In Homebrew_PCBs@yahoogroups.com, "Steve" <alienrelics@...> wrote: > > So... people should leave this group and join yours? I did some research and found out that Steve is also the owner of electronics_101. This is what I was looking for in my site. Therefore I have left my site. Sorry for any problems. Sorry, the wording sounded like you were saying to go to electronic_prototypes and only later come back here. Not that I thought anyone would leave this list to do so... Ah, I think I've pieced this together, correct me if I'm wrong. Harvey Twyman started electronic_prototypes. At some point and for whatever reason, he stopped keeping the list up. I had been a member before, but left due to the spam and lack of activity. Then you wanted a list to talk about electronics and found electronic_prototypes, and became a moderator there. As a good moderator will do, you tried to get the list active again. As you mentioned in a later email here, there is Electronics_101 already going strong. If you haven't already, I hope you join. You got it right. I have joined electronics_101 and there is alot of good information there. Well, off to E_101. I too am with electronics_101 (as well as a couple of others) and between this and the other groups you can learn a lot (as well as teach a lot). Electronics_101 is actually a very good group.
