transparent for toner transfert ?

transparent for toner transfert ?

2008-05-19 by bagmik

Hi everybody,

After being reading the post of the group, I made my choice on using
HP photo paper with a laminator (modified) for the toner transfert
method with impressive results for more than a year now.
I've read once that someone was using transparent inkjet paper for
toner tansfert, easier to align double sided PCB. And there was also
no need to soak the paper as for the HP photo paper.
But I can't remember which brand it was.
Does anyone knows which paper it is ?

Michel.

Many many years ago I used Faber Castle
brand laser printer tannys for toner
transfer. They then became unavailable
so I switched to 3M brand GC3300 which
was the next best I could find.

I've been having good transfers with HP Inkjet transparencies for a
couple years; better than I've ever had with paper. I bought in bulk
and don't have a part number. In addition to being able to align
better and no rubbing, you can monitor the progress of the transfer
better. I use an iron, so can adjust where I apply heat to get the
best results. Don't know how it would work with a laminator...

I tried many types of laser and wax transparencies and none worked as
well as inkjet.

Running inkjet transparencies through HP LaserJet type laser printers
and my Lexmark Optra E+ didn't cause any problems for the printer.

Regards,
Dennis

Thank you all, I'll test those papers. Monitoring the progress of the transfert is a point I didn't know. It will certainly spare me passes through the laminator...

Michel.

If you reply to me via email with your mailing address, I'll send you
a few pieces with patterns you can try transfering. They're old
layouts, but I haven't noticed any shelf-life issues.

One of these days I'll get around to trying some CompUSA inkjet
transparencies with the "fusing" after transfer method. I found that
I get good toner on those transparencies, but it doesn't transfer as
well. Fusing after transfer might make them work better.

Dennis
