HELP: PCB Software

2008-08-01 by Howard

Hi
I have done a pcb layout with PCB Wizard 3.50 on a xp pc
and it is in .pcb format, the prob is that i can not get
a good print out (epson r300) on the xp pc.

My other box is a linux, and i can get a very good print out
with gimp, the big prob that i have is trying to open the .pcb
file in gimp, its a no go!

Is there a pcb prog for linux that can import this file (.pcb)
so that i can print it out from my linux box ??

Thanks in advance
Howard

If your software can't plot to a Windows device (Pulsonix and EasyPC do) you
could try generating Gerber and drill files and importing them into
GCPrevue. I think you should then be able to output them to a printer.

In general, the solution to this problem is to print to a file on
Windows, copy the file (usually Postscript, else install a "generic
postscript" printer driver) to Linux, then print it with The Gimp.

You need to install a PS printer and use that to create the file.

Another solution is to install PrimoPDF and generate a PDF.

Yup. Just install a NEW printer, type "generic / postscript", just to
that you can "print" to it, but print to a file instead.

Hmmm... The Gimp and CUPS use the same drivers, maybe just installing
a remote printer will work? You do File->Print on windows, it
converts it to postscript, sends it to your Linux box, which
rasterizes it and prints it, all automatically...

Hey! The Gimp can open PDFs also. Neat :-)

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
