Can I modify a Epson Stylus C45 Printer for PCB printing

2008-11-13 by Lagnajeet Pradhan

I can't find R280 here. But an Epson Stylus C45 Printer is available here at very cheep price. But before buying it I would like to know is it possible to modify it to print PCB using it. As a second thought a CANON PIXMA iP1880 is also available which is even more cheep. can it be modified for PCB printing. Please do reply.

There are 2 considerations in hacking any printer for pcb printing.
1. Raising the printhead to clear the pcb.

2. Providing a straight though path.

On most printer you have to cut the frame to raise the printhead, but on the
EPSON CD printers there is a mechanism to do just just that.

There also timing reuirements in moving the pcb (paper) through the printer.
