The Samsung CLP-325 set to 100% scale prints at 1:1 while an Epson Workforce 500 would print accurately at 100.5% if such a setting were available. I need accuracy and an opaque printout but neither printer prints an opaque black. Has anyone looked at a Xerox wax printer for accuracy and opaqueness? Terry Mickelson

Phaser solid ink printer has
Excellent opaqueness
Excellent scale accuracy
Average resolution
My canon inkjet wins over the phaser for doing photo-tools.
Anecdotally Epson inkjets are meant to be better than canons. So unless you already have the phaser then your better off getting a known good inkjet.

Assuming you want to buy one, any particular Epson or are all Epson's up to the task?

Where did you find these scale/size numbers? -- "Carpe diem, quam minimum credula postero." - Horace

Where did you come up with those numbers (scale/size)?

Note, some software allows independent scaling of both X & Y to compensate for printer or plotter errors.

I'm using Deneba's Canvas™ which I have used for years now because it doesn't break. I use the software for my renovations and PCB's and radio chassis assemblies, on a Mac. It does it all including the setting of the printout to any percentage but only in whole numbers. 100.5% just isn't there.

Terry, I also have Canvas. For people not familiar with the program it is like a combination of AutoCAD and Photoshop. Version 11 for the PC, and I assume Mac, has independent high resolution scaling. I just scaled a sample 100.5 in X and 99.5% in Y and it worked as expected. AutoCAD has a printer/Plotter calibrate option and I did not check Canvas but I would expect that there is an independent printer calibration option so the original data can be left untouched. For Gerber printing the GC-Preview will allow independent scaling. Bertho

No need to be a jerk about it...I'm not doubting your statement, I just need to determing the same thing for the printers I am using. OK, so you got them off the ruler...what software were you using that gave you the ruler? Jeez!!!

I think you are missing the obvious: Print an object with known dimensions, for example a PCB, and physically measure the printed copy with a regular ruler. Bertho

Boy, is my face ever red...Got it! I was looking for a much more complicated solution! :+>
