HPGL

2004-04-04 by jackafaz

Hi,
I use Eagle to generate my PCB artwork. I would like to try
plotting the output. I have an old HP7475. The documents for Eagle
say it will output HPGL but I can't seem to find a way to do so. Any
suggestions would be appreciated. It may be doing it automatically
when I select my HP7475 as the printer, if so maybe my plotter has
gone bad - haven't use it in a long time.

Thanks - Jack

I have to use the copy >com1 comand in a dos prompt to send my files to the
plotter, XP ha no hpgl driver, nor does HP make one. There is a decent
driver available, for close to $400 but it seems to do is do a copy to com1
command behind the scenes. I have used eagles HPGL it seems to work just
fine (it's in the cam processor section), but more often than not, I tidy
things up in Corel before creating the file.

you can find a command on the hp homepage i think which
you enter in the dos console (using the copy command), it draws a line i
think.
with that you can test if the printer is still working....

look at hp.com support....

good luck, and tell us what you wish to do with the plotter, i have the
same...

HPGL is the underlying graphics language for lots of HP printers so
its happening automatically. If you want tweak the output data,
selectprint to file.

Do you have a cable wired correctly? It won't work with just a
standard serial cable. There are docs on HP's website that show the
proper way to rewire a serial cable.
