The July issue doesn't yet appear to be out but a look at the June issue's section on "what's in the july issue" didn't mention this article. Where did you see this? --- In Homebrew_PCBs@yahoogroups.com, "John Craddock" <John.Craddock@x> wrote: > Heads up for those interested > There is an article on micro-computer temperature control of a toaster oven for smt solder reflow in the July 2004 issue of Circuit Cellar > Best to all > John C > > > > Be sure to visit the group home and check for new Bookmarks and files: > http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Homebrew_PCBs > Yahoo! I don't know when you normally get your CC's, but I received my July issue about a week ago. I don't have the page number for ya, but there is definitely an article on a Toaster Oven Controller. - Robert

I usually get it when I go by a store that has it! Frys in Renton had the June issue on the stand today. --- In Homebrew_PCBs@yahoogroups.com, Robert Ussery <uavscience@f...> wrote: > Phil wrote: > > The July issue doesn't yet appear to be out but a look at the June > > issue's section on "what's in the july issue" didn't mention this > > article. Well, thanks to all for helping me find the CCI article. In it the author makes the statement that you need a PCB with a soldermask to use a reflow oven. He then goes on to say that he doesn't know how to apply a soldermask to homemade boards (I'll give him credit for honesty but not for research). So my questions to this group: - has anyone had reflow oven success on a PCB without a soldermask? If so, what size/type of components. - has anyone had success applying a soldermask? I assume via lamination. - Unfortunately the stuff that T&T sells is like $150 for 40 ft of it. Anyone have a source of smaller quantities? Phil
