K5Ks emitting midi

K5Ks emitting midi

2002-05-22 by a2n3d7y

It seems as if my K5KS is constantly emitting some sort of midi pulse.
Its hooked up thru my midisport 2x2 into midi-input-A. The midi-input-
A light is always flashing. wtf!
Does any one know what I am talking about?

Guess it's sending "active sensing"

A message, send every 300 mSeconds to see if the MIDI link still
stands. This way a synth can stop playing if the cable gets unplugged.
On stage this is cool, since you don't want a "hanging" note if you
are playing live.

I'll get into it as soon as I have time.

Pretty sure however it's nothing to worry about :-)

I used to do alot of MIDI research. Also System Exclusive. Wrote
software back in 1989 for it.
Pretty neat looking editor and bankmanager for JX-8P and a universal
Dump proggy. At that time I could read and understand ALL MIDI
commands :-)

Took me alot of time (1.5 year on the JX-8P and 3 months on the Dump-
proggy). Since than did lots of other things on the musicfront.
(Became specialist in musicshop, later started my own shop, became
Importperson for several analogue brands.)

Still write mixermaps at the time ;-) Last I did was a MKS-80.

Cheers,

John.
