The battery in any synth is there to backup the sound memory of the when your synth is powered off, so no effect on the sound. Not all SX batteries leak, mines fine, but it will eventually. best to get it changed sooner than later. Note when you replace the battery you sound memory will get deleted, so be prepared to program from scratch (certainly not a hard or bad thing IMO) your SX sound memory or backup your sounds to cassette to load back in.
