In defence of the notorious Ni-Cd 3.6v 50mah (see Photos) I would like
to say that I purchased my SX-210 back in 1982 and I have only
recently replaced the Memory Battery due to leakage; that's 23 years
not bad going in my estimation. But it has to be acknowledged it can
cause damage to the circuit board if left unchecked; I was fortunate I
only had superficial damage easily put right with a little help from
group member's advice.
Unfortunately I too was unsuccessful in finding the details in the old
group records on how to convert to Lithium with a blocking Diode (to
prevent charging?)(Why prevent charging?) Or did I miss read it! in
the end I settled (with great success)on a replacement Nick Metal
Hydride Memory Backup Battery 3.6v 80mah available from
http://www.rapidelectronics.co.uk/ Order Code: - 18-1625 .£2.05p plus
P&P & VAT. This site also has a range of jack plugs and sockets etc
including right angled plugs which I found particularly useful; they
have no minimum charge only postage.
Another site in America has the Ni-Cd 3.6v 60mah @ $5.95 but
operates a minimum order charge of $50, Plus Carriage.
http://partsexpress.com/ Part No: -141-102. Hope you find this
information useful; Regards, Clive. 08.02.06.
