I don't have the service manual anymore (went with my 240 when I sold it) so I can't say exactly what they're doing. The only SSM chips are the filters (2044). I believe since there are only square/trailing edge saw waves available its digitally generated. Its fairly easy to make a square wave into a saw with waveshaping. And the square is native to the digital domain. ----- Original Message ----- From: jimmyb00ts Sent: 04/25/12 11:05 PM To: Kawai-Teisco@yahoogroups.com Subject: [Kawai-Teisco] Re: SX-240 Control Voltage in-out? Thanks Travis. The DCOs are non-discrete, correct? I.e. they are on chips like the SSM2044s? Are they digitally-controlled analog oscillators (i.e. Six-Trak) or are they fully digital? I have read both facts in different places. Are there eight oscillators? Many thanks, James --- In Kawai-Teisco%40yahoogroups.com , "Travis Shire" <boardjunkie@...> wrote: > > No go on that. The only thing that uses control voltage are the filter chips (SSM2044). The rest is digitally controlled/generated. This is a DCO synth, not VCO, so it is what it is and is not compatible with any full analog jobber.... > > ----- Original Message ----- > From: jimmyb00ts > Sent: 04/10/12 05:38 PM > To: Kawai-Teisco%40yahoogroups.com > Subject: [Kawai-Teisco] SX-240 Control Voltage in-out? > > Hello all, > > Does anyone know if the Kawai SX-240 is capable of being modded for Control Voltage (CV) ins and outs? I removed the battery and have been using it without its more advanced functions (patch memory is one that is sorely missed). I will be ordering a replacement battery and diode soon; the synth starts up with a hanging note but otherwise is a joy to play. > > Thanks, > Jimmy >
