Hello Group

Hello Group

2004-11-20 by datassette

Hi,

I've just stumbled upon this group - here's my SX-210 story:

I bought my SX-210 for £140 from some guy's house near manchester in
1995, it was the first bit of proper music gear I'd ever owned (I was
15 at the time).
I must say I was initially disappointed with it, I think at the time I
was looking for something a bit more 70s moog-sounding (how naive I was!).

But since then, I learned to love my SX-210 in sickness and in health
and I'll NEVER sell it (I just wish the little bastard had MIDI).

Does anyone else's SX-210 ever get 'sick' ?
Sometimes I get random notes triggering by themselves and note
envelopes not fully closing - it always goes away after a few minutes
of being switched on though. You gotta love it's analog 'charm' !

Also, my INCREMENT dial would only *increase* the numbers for a while
- which made making new patches impossible, it stayed like this for
about 4 years and then one day suddenly fixed itself?? WTF??

Cheers,
John

Welcome

The kawai sx 210 was my first synth. It has all the elements I believe
make up a great synth. I only lust for an andromida, but am sure i
would be disappointed after the sx 210 and sx 240, so I will wait
until they become real cheap. ha

My sx 210 is stable... my sx 240 has been abused some what but, i am
comfortable in being able to make it stable one day.

A little work and these synthesizers realy produce, anything from
symphony to rock.

I would hate to lose either keyboard.

the funny stuff may be related to the battery,, so check for leakage
and replace.

love the kawai's

Have you ever opened it up and checked for battery leakage ??

This may be the cause. Do it now. Check if it has leaked and in any
case replace it. Has it leaked I guess you have some traces ruined by
the leaking acid... You'll have to take it to a professional to
recover it.

If the battery looks OK, check for a defected LS367 chip just where
the Increment connects to the computer boards, and a defected EG chip
(2056) on one of the oscillators.
