My boyfriend's SX240

My boyfriend's SX240

2005-10-04 by donna_honeyman

Hi group: I'm new here and wanted to find out if any of you knew of any
cool sounds to program manually, my boyfriend recently obtained a SX240
in exellent shape and only got to program the voices contained in the
owner's manual, he's interested in knowing about more exotic sounds.
The SX 240 is an awesome machine, incredible the range and the
weirdness of the sounds capable of producing.
He's thinking about selling it because he's got 2 more keyboards at
home and the space is getting limited but can't decide which one to
sell, the SX 240, the Korg M1 or the Peavey DPM3.
Any sugestions?
Thank you

Listen to the beginning of "children of the sun" all analog
No file sharing here, and it probably would not be played like the
original programmer intended.

Just a note here about that song, Billy Thorpe was the artist. Also, the middle section in Edgar Winter's "Frankenstien" should be pretty easy providing you control the filter cutoff with the data knob in real time. Warm analog leads (Heart's "Magic Man" for example are not this machine's strong point. Better for pads, strings, fx and some basses.

I can get a fair "frankenstien" out of my sx 210. I really love the
rockers, with advnce by 10. The sx240 has the disadvantage of arrow
scroll to parameters. I have to assume that with MIDI on the sx240
someone could get more out of it, but not me.

However nothing like Pink Floyd's "the machine" Any Idea of what
machine made that sound? It sems there are tribute bands now. I wonder
if they nailed "the machine lead"???
