Apple Logic Pro /LogicExpress Discussion

Greetings fellow Logic Nerds,

I am encountering a frustrating problem that i can't seem to solve. 
Apologies if this has 
been addressed - if so, please direct me to the answer.

I am using Applied Acoustic's Tassman as a Synth and as an Effects
unit in Logic Pro.  If 
you haven't checked it out, you should.  But that's aside the point. 
It is an open 
environment (similar to Reaktor) that you can program in a variety of
ways.  It can be used 
both as a synth and as an effect processor.  It also has that
convenient MIDI LEARN 
feature.

When I am using it as an effects processor, it doesn't seem to
receive MIDI.  Since its 
parameters don't show up in the track automation, I am wondering how
I can automate it?  
Has anyone experienced this, and found a workaround?  In more general
terms, I think the 
problem might be that AudioInstrument Tracks might only send MIDI to the
instruments, not the 
effects.  Is this true?
