I recorded some live saxophone and did it in loops, to have several versions of the same part
I could choose from. So Logic made 5 new tracks each with a different version of the part
(Great, just what I wanted) - Problem is that I can't hear it when I play it back. Tried to create
a file with one of the parts, still can't hear. Anyone can help? Thnx
Logic automatically mutes those new loops - which is a good thing because you don't want to hear all five loops at once, especially when you are trying to record the 6th one. There is a key command for muting sequences and regions. I use "m". Its like a toggle. if its playing normally, then you select the midi or audio and hit m and it will still be there but not sound, and the color will be dimmed. if its already muted then it will become active again.
the usual way to do this is to play that looped section and mute and unmute different takes until you find the best one. sometimes you may decide to take the start of one and the end of another, and cut them, or even more complicated cuts, then put them together to make the master loop.
What you can do with the discarded pieces, is select them, then go to the menu item "folder > pack", so you can get them out of the way, but they are still in the proper place. You might want to use the glue tool to create a new audio region if you have a frankenstein piece of audio cut from different takes. That creates a new file, but then keep the original cuts in case you want to edit it later.
