Its easy you set the group so no one can join without approval. Its an option which the list owner can set. Evidently they go fishing for groups. I have three attempts to join in the last week. However, legitimate potential members have to be approved individually too.

Im interested in how you "approve' new members. I belong to another group (jazz transcriptions) and the members are very upset when spammers manage to get into the room.

Can you tell us how you do this?
