I think that this was a feature of 7.2 to make flexible audio loops that follow tempo changes. I often use the "poor mans" quick and dirty method - cut the audio into chunks of 1/4 notes or 1/8 or 1/16 notes in the original tempo then change the tempo and add crossfades. This works pretty well for drum loops which no change in tone. When I get things more finalized I can make nicer edits. For example, opening the little regions and adjusting the start and ends, or using the glue tool in the audio window. In fact, I never really understood why people like BT would use the time machine on drum loops so much because that also messes with the transients. But if you copy a little bit of silent audio you can glue it into the sample, then cut some and adjust it very precisely. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
