Instead of screening messages, we screen people who want to join to some
extent. But once they are in, they are pretty free to discuss things. The other
list, lets anyone in, but approves (or disapproves) all messages one by one
(although certain special people can more or less say what they want). The problem
with screening new people is that many people don't answer the question as to
why they want to join, or give some vague answer. Its hard to know if they
have no idea what Logic is all about, or if they just have poor English skills
or are trying to be cool. So once in a while some spammer gets through - but
the get immediately banned and their message deleted. The messages here can get
off topic and be more free wheeling. The other list will definitely censor
people for very minor reasons. Its very controlled. So far, in 4 years or so, no
one has been banned for anything anyone has said in normal conversation -
including critizing me. The other list on the other hand, has banned hundreds. So
its just a different way of doing things.
