Re:copying settings from track to track

2008-12-05 by John Tomlinson

WOW! There's so much wrong with this "Tech Tip of the day" I'm not sure weather to Laugh or Cry .... Humm, I guess just ask some simple questions, like: What is a track and where is it located? Can you hold down the Option (alt) key in the Track mixer and duplicate a track? Can you hold down the Option (alt) key in the Arrange Areas "Track list" and duplicate a track? Do either of these functions/options duplicate the information in the Arrange area? What exactly does he/she mean by "slot", I thought I was creating a new "slot"? What the heck is the "Stuff" in the Arrange Area called anyway that we're trying to duplicate? How do I duplicate the "Stuff" (aka Audio or MIDI information), which raises another question, whats the difference between a copy, a clone and an alias? What the heck are these things called when I select them anyway? Does the helpful "Tip" person at Sweetwater know? Just where is the Region Parameter Box and how can I find it
if I dont see it? Furthermore why cant I hear the adjustment of +-25 (is that Millisecons or what? I get a choice of 1/192 at 182 bpm so.....) in the copied track, but I hear it in every new track I create???? Hummm...

Is it just me or has this person caused more problems with their helpful "Tech Tip" of the day?

Happy Holidays everyone.
