thanks, everyone, for taking the time to reply.  i think i'm going to stick w/Emagic and get 
another AMT8 (since i don't need SMPTE).  my unit has been nothing but reliable.  

(regarding MOTU:  i used to have a MOTU Midiexpress, but after a few years it started 
acting strangely.  when i called MOTU they were quite rude and told me that since i 
bought it used, they wouldn't help me - even thought the previous owner never registered 
it.  i decided not to use their stuff anymore... but i loved my MOTU 1224 interface... oh 
well...)

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
