I wonder if anybody has any experiences with the Powercore X8, good or bad. I, like many others, are moving towards an upgrade from my G5 so my PCI card won´t work on my next machine. I was planning to get a PCIe but since the world crisis is affecting the currencies around the world it´s possible to get good deals right now on the X8 if you live in Central Europe and shop in the UK (all within EU so no tax and the pound being quite low against the euro). The problem is that I seem to remember that the Powercore Firewire caused a lot of trouble a few years back when mixed with PCI solutions. Have these issues been solved or is the Powercore X8 a no-go. I have decided to wait for the next MacPro update because I am a little worried about buying the first version of the Nehalems and I also want to have Snow Leopard for free (September, they say). Of course the idea here is that I can use the X8 straight away on my G5 and sell the old Powercore Mrk II before it becomes completely worthless. I will eventually also buy a UAD2 Quad and unless something better comes along a RME Raydat (I alreaday have nice lightpipe converters so no MADI at this point) which means that everything else will be internal.
