Re: How do you.. anybody has

2010-05-26 by Brian

Thanks a lot. After a few weeks of owning Logic Pro 9 and a MOTU system, I'm still trying to get over the learning curves. I've been living in the stone age too long! I'm adapting over from an Alesis HD24 ADAT and Mackie D8B.

The MIDI end of Logic is probably going to take me the most time to get the hang of. The plan is to work out the bugs before integrating Logic and my 8 Mac Pro into my existing set up. For the MIDI end of things, I was using a really old version of CakeWalk Pro, which is probably 14 years old by now. I never learned how to site read music, but could navigate around my musical stupidity with that program. I never learned how to use piano roll or those little grids to write or edit my MIDI events into it. I'd go into a view in CakeWalk, which would allow me to see things written in the numbers of measures, beats and pulses, and got quite good offsetting and correcting things.

The nightmare is going to be taking my old MIDI and ADAT files into Logic. I'd like to do away with my D8B, but am still a bit scared. I'm borrowing one of those floppy to USB converter things to get my MIDI files out of my 486.....LOL! If anybody has any suggestions, I would appreciate them.
