Problem with Audio Sample Rate

From: James DeMeo <demeo@...> Subject: Cc: Bcc: X-Attachments: Here's a problem I hope someone might help with. I'm running Logic Express 7 on a good Mac G4 with plenty of memory and speed, and recently recorded an audio track at 48000 khz using a Mobile-Pre USB interface. After recording it, I immediately played it back and all was fine. I made some automation edits, adding reverb, etc., and all was fine. The file was saved for completion later on. When I re-opened the file, without the Mobile-Pre USB interface, Logic immediately gave the message "Core Audio: Sample rate 48000 not allowed" -- I clicked "OK" and proceeded, but my file was then interpreted as only 44100 khz, which stretched out the file length and both slowed and lowered the octave of everything. I then tried to re-set the Audio Sample Rate, but the same "not allowed" message came up again. I tried adjusting the Project Settings - selecting the "Convert audio file sample rate when importing" -- then resarted Logic, and even restarted the Mac as well, but this changed nothing. The only way I can get the file which was recorded at 48000 to display and playback at proper speed is to re-connect the Mobile-Pre USB interface, as if I'm going to record something once again. I've searched my Logic books and the Help pdfs and can find nothing addressing this problem. It seems as if Logic is always looking to "record" and therefore sets its speed at whatever the current interface is -- so if I do not connect the Mobile-Pre unit, it defaults to the "Built-In Audio" interface which has a maximum speed of 44100. Is there somewhere a way to tell Logic that I don't want to record anything, and allow me to manually set the Audio Sample Rate, or to shut off the input parameters so that the Sample Rate will be properly adjusted at startup? The manuals gilbly say all this should be automatically adjusted by Logic, but it just ain't so. In frustration.... James
