Quantizing note ends

Quantizing note ends

2005-03-28 by tim_trax

When you quantize a note in Logic, you can choose quarter note , eighth note , etc.etc.
When you quantize the END of a note, instead of the sensible quarter note eighth note
thing, you are faced with the 4-number beat, .....ticks box. Can someone tell me what 4
numbers in that box would equal a quarter note, an eight note, even a whole note would
be handy.

The 4 numbers represent bar, beat, subdivision and tick. Subdivision
defaults to semiquaver and there are 960 ticks per quarter note. So...

- a quarter note = 0 1 0 0
- an eighth note = 0 0 2 0
- a whole note (with a time signature of 4/4) = 1 0 0 0
- etc.

You can quantize note ends ... i think in the matrix view, if you hold down shift as you drag the lengths of multiple notes, they all end simultaneously. Then you don't have to play with numbers at all. You might want to fool with the gate option too.

you can quantize note ends in the matrix if you hold shift and cntl on
a pc

Yes, and also noteworthy is the ability to select a track or certain notes in a track and keep
them from overlapping into each other. (Correct overlapped notes). Can't seem to find it
now but for me it's SHIFT+f2. Also to force legato, (make selected short notes connect but
not overlap) it's SHIFT+f1.

I hope these weren't custom key settings. Anyway they are available on key commands
window.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
