Is the output of the Audio Editor set to an Audio Track that's active? Not
near Logic at the moment, but on the left of the editor is a little box with
a number in it, that number being the Audio Track the file you're editing is
output on.

Thats a good idea (to check the channel that the sample editor is playing through).

Can someone verify these bugs in the sample editor :
1. you have audio selected then hit the play icon, nothing happens
2. you set a looping area and hit sample play but the loop area is not respected and it loops more sloppily - sometimes with a glitch at the end each time.

I had this problem until I reset the channel as Askii suggested.

I get a pause sometimes at the end prior to restarting the loop, but nothing
other than that.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
