Amazon.com may have spilled the beans on a new Power Mac G5 configuration that Apple hasn’t officially announced yet. The popular online catalog reseller has listed a 2.7GHz dual-processor Power Mac G5 model, equipped with 512MB RAM, 250GB hard disk drive and 16x dual-layer “SuperDrive” optical drive. Amazon’s price on the new Mac is US$2,994.99.
Apple’s currently top-end Power Mac G5 model is a dual-processor system clocked at 2.5GHz. The system comes equipped with 512MB RAM, a 160GB hard disk drive, and 8x SuperDrive, for US$2,999. More details on the new Power Mac offering are scant — Amazon.com’s Web page for the item lacks other specific technical details such as bus speed.
